Please note that the observations may change from time to time, as well as from place to place, for reasons ranging from changes in the synoptic situation to short-term or local changes due to the complex coastal and mountainous terrain in Hong Kong. Users are advised to exercise utmost care in interpreting the information presented here and to monitor the weather conditions closely.

   
(2) Soaring Index

The Soaring Index is a measure of the lift offered by convective clouds. It is commonly calculated using weather information between 5 000 feet (1 524 metres) and 20 000 feet (6 096 metres). The latest Soaring Index is shown on the left.

*Please note that the chance of having showers and thunderstorms increases with the Soaring Index. Users are advised to check the latest Weather Report and Forecast and Weather Radar Image from time to time.
