Automatic Weather Stations |
| The Hong Kong Observatory operates automatic weather stations near Chek Lap Kok to measure the winds around the airport. The remote stations on mountain tops and outlying islands are solar-powered and send the wind data back to the airport using radio waves. Wind-powered generators have also been installed at a few remote stations to provide power during prolonged cloudy condition. |
