The winter monsoon persisted over southern China and the coastal areas of Guangdong yesterday. Locally, it was fine and dry but hazy. The visibility over parts of the territory fell below 5000 metres. The winter monsoon is expected to strengthen gradually and bring cold weather to southern China in the next few days.

Fine and dry, but hazy at first. Rather cool in the morning with a minimum temperature of about 13 degrees in the urban areas and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. The maximum temperature will be around 17 degrees during the day. Moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Outlook : Cold weather persisting into midweek next week with morning temperatures falling to around 10 degrees.
