A
ridge of high pressure brought mainly
fine weather to southeastern China today. Meanwhile,
showers affected the northwestern part of the South China Sea. Locally, it was
cloudy this morning. There were
sunny periods in the afternoon. Temperatures over the territory generally rose to 28 degrees or above. The
ridge of high pressure is expected to weaken gradually in the next couple of days. A
trough of low pressure will bring unsettled weather to the south China coast over the weekend.
At 11 p.m., Severe Tropical Storm Sanvu was centred about 850 kilometres south-southwest of Iwo Jima. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 14 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the seas south of Japan.
