A ridge of high pressure is bringing mainly fine weather to southeastern China. Meanwhile, showers are affecting the northern part of the South China Sea.

At 8 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Sanvu was centred about 730 kilometres south-southwest of Iwo Jima. It is forecast to move north or north-northwest at about 14 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the seas south of Japan.
