The northeast monsoon affecting southern China moderated gradually yesterday. Locally, it was fine and dry. The relative humidity over most parts of the territory fell below 50 per cent in the afternoon. An intense winter monsoon is expected to bring rather cool weather to the south China coastal areas in the latter part of the week.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Tuesday, 2 Dec 2008)

Fine and dry. The minimum temperature will be about 17 degrees in the urban areas and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. The maximum temperature during the day will be around 22 degrees. Light to moderate northeasterly winds, becoming easterlies later.

Outlook : Temperatures rising in the following couple of days. Significantly cooler with temperature falling to around 13 degrees on Friday and over the weekend.
