To enhance earthquake media services, the Hong Kong Observatory starts adding maps to indicate the location of epicentre on the earthquake press releases web page today (19 December 2007).

The location of epicentre is previously described in words in the earthquake press release in the Observatory website. The web page on earthquake press release is now enhanced to include a global and a regional map indicating the epicentre with a red star-shaped symbol. (Please see sample at the bottom.) This will facilitate members of the public to have a better geographical understanding of the location of the earthquake.
