Successful Completion of the First Online Quiz on Aeronautical Meteorology
The Hong Kong Observatory organized an on-line quiz on aeronautical meteorology from 6 January till the end of February 2010. The objectives are to introduce to the public the 14th Session of the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology (CAeM-XIV) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) hosted by the Observatory in February 2010 and to promote the knowledge on aeronautical meteorology and its related international developments.
This is the first time that the Observatory launched an online quiz on aeronautical meteorology on its website. It was rather well received. More than 7,000 members of the public joined the quiz. Out of which, around 500 participants answered all 12 questions correctly, winning an award of a personalized electronic certificate signed by the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Dr B Y Lee. This meaningful educational activity was also supported by relevant organizations including the Hong Kong Education City, Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, Friends of the Observatory, and members of the Hong Kong Community Weather Information Network (Co-Win).
