More than 30 meteorological and public health experts from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao gathered at the Hong Kong Observatory on 22 January 2018 to take part in the first ever “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Climate and Health Seminar”. Apart from the Observatory, participants from Hong Kong included experts from the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute.

A number of reports related to climate and health were presented in the seminar, covering topics on impact of urban climate and extreme temperatures on public health, connection between weather and seasonal influenza activity, and impact of climate change on public health. Apart from active discussion and exchanges of views among the participants, future direction of development and collaboration opportunities were also explored.
