Hong Kong Observatory Offers Attachment Programme on Marine Meteorological Services for Staff of
Thai Meteorological Department

A delegation of 5 officers from the Thai Meteorological Department attended an attachment programme on marine meteorological services at the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) on 9 and 10 April 2008.  The Thai Meteorological Department has established a Marine Meteorological Centre (MMC) recently.

The HKO has provided marine meteorological services since 1884 and is one of the major centres providing marine weather forecasts and warnings to ships on the high sea.

Dr. Wattana Kanbua, Director of MMC and the principal delegate, commended the HKO staff for their professionalism in both delivering the lectures and in the provision of marine meteorological service.  "I am sure the attachment programme will help us to develop a comprehensive programme of our own." Dr. Kanbua said.
