Launching of "Weather Diary" activity

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) in collaboration with the Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity) have organised a "Weather Diary" activity for secondary school students . The activity aims at raising the interest and knowledge of students in meteorology through weather observation.

Over 2,100 students from about 300 schools have enrolled in the activity. Lasting a month starting from 17 May 2005, students will make an observation of cloud and rain after school each day, and record the information and remark on the designated webpage of HKEdCity . HKO will analyze the data and then announce the results.

HKO had organized 4 seminars on 30 Apr 2005 for about 300 teachers and students to explain the details of the activity and the techniques on weather observation. Photos taken on the seminars are as follows:

Dr. LEE Boon-ying, Assistant Director of HKO and Miss Jacqueline CHENG, Chief Executive Officer of HKEdCity launched the 'Weather Diary' activity on 17 May 2005 with some participants.
