  • A New Episode of "Cool Met Stuff"

  • Friday, 1st December 2017

Super Typhoon Hato hit Hong Kong in August 2017. Its associated storm surge together with the astronomical high tide caused the water level at Tai Po Kau to rise beyond 4 meters above Chart Datum. What is "Chart Datum"? What is "astronomical high tide"? And what are those factors that determine the power of the storm surge? A new episode of the special series of "Cool Met Stuff" video on Hato produced by the Observatory will answer those questions.

The video is now available at the "Cool Met Stuff" channel on the Observatory webpage and "MyObservatory" mobile application (programme is broadcasted in Cantonese).
