Tropical Depression Koppu entered the South China Sea on 13 September 2009 and intensified into a typhoon on the afternoon of 14 September. An animation of the Hong Kong Observatory's radar images from 5 pm, 14 September to 7 am, 15 September is now available at the Observatory's YouTube site at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JcASbrmtJo. It can be seen that Typhoon Koppu was moving generally west-northwestward, passing to the south of Hong Kong and made landfall at Taishan, Guangdong at around 7 am. The eye of Koppu was clearly depicted on the radar images.
