Partial Solar Eclipse on YouTube

A partial solar eclipse was visible in Hong Kong on 15 January. It began at about 3.33pm, reached its maximum at 4.54pm and ended around 6.00pm when the sun and the moon descended below the horizon in succession. The eclipse had a magnitude of 0.674, meaning 67.4% of the sun's diameter was obscured by the moon at maximum eclipse. The Observatory has captured the partial solar eclipse event through a telescope of the Hong Kong Observatory. The video clip is now available at the Observatory's Youtube site at http://www.youtube.com/user/hkweather#p/c/E3C91C001D5D77E4/10/zOpMQ2-XUtc.

Details on the eclipse can be found on the Observatory's webpage http://www.hko.gov.hk/press/SP/pre20100115e.htm.
