Professor Chan Lung-sang visited the Hong Kong Observatory

Professor Chan Lung-sang, Scientific Advisor of the Hong Kong Observatory, visited the Observatory on 2 July 2021, and was briefed of the latest developments on the earthquake monitoring and tsunami warning operations of the Observatory. Taking opportunity of his visit, Professor Chan was also invited to deliver a talk on regional plate motions and the implications for seismicity. Apart from the Observatory’s colleagues, Professor Chan’s talk attracted over 30 external participants including colleagues from the Geotechnical Engineering Office, the Hong Kong Science Museum, members of the Geological Society of Hong Kong as well as university professors and students.Prof Chan Lung-sang is a renowned expert in earthquakes, geophysics, and geology of Hong Kong. He is currently the Deputy Director and College Principal of the HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKUSPACE), and the Honorary Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, The University of Hong Kong.
