360 Tour of the Tate's Cairn Weather Radar Station

Today (22 April 2021), we will bring you to visit a weather radar station in the 360 degree virtual tour. Have you ever looked towards Tate's Cairn and caught sight of a white sphere built on a tower? It is one of the weather radars of the Observatory and is the first dual-polarization S-band Doppler weather radar in Hong Kong. The antenna inside the sphere rotates 24 hours continuously on normal days and hence it is not easy to arrange a visit. This time we take the opportunity of routine maintenance of the radar and bring you inside the white sphere to have a look at the instruments there!
