2025 was the second or third warmest year on record globally*, with the global average surface temperature approximately 1.43℃ above the pre-industrial (1850-1900) levels. The past three years (2023–2025) were the three warmest on record, and the past eleven years (2015–2025) were the eleven warmest on record.

* According to the 9 datasets consolidated by the World Meteorological Organization, two of them ranked 2025 as the second warmest, while seven of them ranked it as the third warmest.
