Workshop on Weather Information for Paragliding

On 5 November 2022, the Observatory held a workshop on weather information for paragliding with the Hong Kong Paragliding Association (HKPA). A total of 25 members from HKPA attended the workshop. During the workshop, Observatory colleagues gave presentations related to the This link will open in a new windowWeather Information for Aviation Sports webpage, and covered the formation of low-level clouds, application of tephigrams, and cumulonimbus and thunderstorm development and forecasting. Mr Herman Chiu, Safety Officer of HKPA, also gave Observatory colleagues an explanation of the weather information of most concern to pilots, and introduced paragliders’ techniques.
