Radiological Protection Officers' Course 2011
12 December 2011
The "Radiological Protection Officers' Course" co-organized by the Security Bureau, the Hong Kong Observatory, the Department of Health, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and the Government Laboratory was successfully held on 28-29 November 2011 at the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters. About 60 colleagues from various government departments involved in the "Daya Bay Contingency Plan" participated. The course included lectures on radiological monitoring and protection basics, practicals on operation of instruments and a syndicate exercise. The trainees found the course very relevant, useful and well organized. They actively participated in the course, and the role playing in the syndicate exercise enabled them to better understand the role and responsibilities of various government departments in the "Daya Bay Contingency Plan" in protecting the safety of the public in the unlikely event of an incident at the Daya Bay or Lingao nuclear power plants.
