The Observatory presented basic training on aviation meteorology to the participants of the "Dragonair Aviation Certificate Programme
2011"
during 24 to 26 October. This is already the sixth year of the programme and the number of participants, a total of 24 youths, had reached the record high this year. In the training course, the operation of Airport Meteorological Office, the provision of aviation weather services and various weather phenomena which would affect aviation safety were introduced. Basic training on weather observation and aviation weather forecasting were also provided to the participants. Each participant was arranged to work at the Airport Meteorological Office to gain experience as a meteorological personnel. They were impressed by the importance of aviation meteorological services provided by the Airport Meteorological Office.
