10 November 2011
Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Mr. C.M. Shun, led a delegation to Beijing to pay visit respectively to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the China Earthquake Administration (CEA), the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) during 26-28 October 2011. Mr. Shun met Mr. Gao Yi, Deputy Director-General of the Air Traffic Management Bureau of CAAC, Mr. Zhao Heping, Vice Administrator of CEA, Mr. Chen Lianzeng, Deputy Administrator of SOA, and Dr. Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of CMA. This was the first time Mr. Shun visited the above four closely-cooperating counterparts in Mainland China since Mr. Shun assumed the post of the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory in April 2011. This is also the first time that a Director of the Hong Kong Observatory visited the SOA and CEA. The objectives of the visit are to review the past operational collaboration with the respective Bureau, and to deepen and push forward further developments in implementation of observational networks, data sharing, exchanges in scientific research and technology, and international cooperation, etc. The fruitful results from the visit have laid a solid foundation for further intensifying the co-operation with our counterparts in the future.
