Emergency Radiation Monitoring and Assessment
Under the Daya Bay Contingency Plan (DBCP), in the unlikely event of a nuclear accident or a suspected nuclear accident at the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station (GNPS) or Lingao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS), the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) will immediately conduct emergency radiation monitoring and assessment.
Besides emergency radiation monitoring and assessment, the HKO has implemented a comprehensive Environmental Radiation Monitoring Programme (ERMP) since 1987 to determine any long term changes in environmental radioactivity, particularly those arising from the operation of the GNPS and LNPS.
