South China Coastal Waters

Weather Situation:
A southerly airstream is affecting the south China coastal
waters.

At noon, Severe Typhoon Mekkhala with maximum sustained
winds of about 165 kilometres per hour near its centre was
located at 17.8 degrees north, 127.3 degrees east. It is
forecast to move west-northwest at about 14 kilometres per
hour across the seas east of the Philippines and continue to
intensify.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
South to southwest force 4, occasionally force 5.
A few showers.
Moderate seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
West to southwest force 4, occasionally force 5.
Moderate seas.

South of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao:
South to southwest force 4 to 5.
Moderate seas.

Outlook for the following 48 hours 
South to southwesterly winds of force 4 to 5. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms.
