Warnings:
Hurricane force winds in Nan'ao. Gale force winds in
Shanwei. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters and south
of Hong Kong.
Weather Situation:
At 8 p.m., Typhoon Podul with maximum sustained winds of
about 120 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at
23.4 degrees north, 119.1 degrees east. It is forecast to
move west-northwest at about 28 kilometres per hour across
the Taiwan Strait, and then edge closer to the vicinity of
southern Fujian to eastern Guangdong.

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
South to southwest force 5 to 6.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.
Nan'ao:
Southwest force 9 to 10, becoming cyclonic force 12.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
High seas, becoming phenomenal.
Shanwei:
Southwest force 6 to 7, becoming force 9.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Rough seas, becoming high.
South of Hong Kong:
Southwest force 5 to 6.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.
Shangchuan Dao:
Southwest force 4, occasionally force 5.
Scattered showers and squally thunderstorms.

Outlook for the following 48 hours
