South China Coastal Waters

Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.
Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters and Shangchuan
Dao.

Weather Situation:
The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal
waters.

At 1 a.m., Severe Typhoon Fung-wong with maximum sustained
winds of about 175 kilometres per hour near its centre was
located at 16.6 degrees north, 120.9 degrees east. It is
forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per
hour across Luzon and enter the South China Sea.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
North force 4 to 5, occasionally force 6.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
Northeast force 7 to 8, becoming up to force 9.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.
Rough to very rough seas, becoming high.

South of Hong Kong:
North to northeast force 5 to 6, becoming up to force 8.
Moderate to rough seas, becoming very rough.

Shangchuan Dao:
North to northeast force 4 to 5, becoming up to force 6.
Moderate seas, becoming rough seas.

Outlook for the following 48 hours 
Northerly winds of force 7 to 8, becoming up to force 12 in
east. Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
