An area of intense thundery showers associated with Tropical Cyclone Wutip is affecting the waters south of Hong Kong and is gradually edging closer to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary. It is expected that showers will be heavier in some areas of Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

The Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1 has been issued.
The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 9:00 p.m. today. Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.
