Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. A southerly airstream affected the coast of Guangdong yesterday. An anticyclone aloft covered the region and the northern part of the South China Sea at first. Locally, there were sunny periods. It was hot during the day. Temperatures over most parts of the territory rose to 31 degrees or above. Besides, a trough of low pressure formed over central China yesterday. It is expected to edge closer to the coast of southern China gradually today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, under the influence of upper-air disturbances, there will be heavy showers and squally thunderstorms over the region. At 11 p.m. last night, Tropical Depression Hagupit was centred about 950 kilometres east of Manila. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the seas east of the Philippines and dissipating gradually. Weather forecast for Hong Kong Mainly cloudy with a few showers. Showers will increase gradually with squally thunderstorms, and will be heavy in some areas. Temperatures will range between 25 and 29 degrees. Moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh offshore and on high ground. Outlook : Occasional showers in the following couple of days. Showers will be heavier in some areas. Windy and there will still be a few showers early next week.
