Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. Showers and squally thunderstorms associated with the southwest monsoon and a trough of low pressure are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea persistently. Locally, more than 20 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over many places in the past couple of hours, and rainfall even reached around 40 millimetres over the northern part of the New Territories, Kwai Tsing and Sha Tin. Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight Cloudy with showers and squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, occasionally strong on high ground. Outlook : Showers will be heavy at times in the next couple of days. Windier on Tuen Ng Festival, isolated thunderstorms at first. The weather will improve during the day. Hot with sunny periods over the weekend.
