Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. An anticyclone aloft is bringing generally fine and very hot weather to southeastern China. Locally, temperatures over many places rose to 33 degrees or above in the afternoon. Severe Typhoon Mekkhala has intensified into a super typhoon. At 4 p.m., Mekkhala was centred about 720 kilometres east-northeast of Manila. It is forecast to move northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour across the seas east of the Philippines. Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow Mainly fine. The minimum temperature will be about 28 degrees tomorrow morning. Very hot during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 33 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple degrees higher in the New Territories. Moderate southwesterly winds. Outlook : Persistently very hot in the following couple of days. A few showers in the latter part of this week.
