Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. Showers and thunderstorms associated with upper-air disturbances affected Guangdong yesterday. A trough of low pressure also edged closer to the coastal areas gradually. Locally, it was mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms yesterday. More than 10 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over many places, and even up to 20 millimetres over the eastern part of the New Territories. The trough of low pressure is expected to bring heavy showers and squally thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong today. It will linger over the northern part of the South China Sea in the next couple of days. A fresh to strong easterly airstream will also affect eastern Guangdong. There will still be showers over the region. Besides, Tropical Depression Hagupit dissipated over the seas east of the Philippines yesterday morning. Weather forecast for Hong Kong Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy in some areas at first. Temperatures will range between 25 and 28 degrees. Moderate south to southeasterly winds. Outlook : Occasional showers on Saturday. Showers will be heavy in some areas at first and winds will strengthen. Windier and the weather will remain unsettled on Sunday and Monday. Showers will ease off gradually in the following couple of days.
