Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao and Shanwei. Strong winds in Hong
Kong adjacent waters and south of Hong Kong.
Weather Situation:
At 5 a.m., the tropical depression over the northeastern
part of the South China Sea with maximum sustained winds of
about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at
19.3 degrees north, 119.4 degrees east. It is forecast to
move northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the
general direction of the coast of eastern Guangdong.
Area forecasts for the next 24 hours
Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to northeast force 4 to 5, becoming north up to force 6
later.
Scattered showers and squally thunderstorms.
Moderate seas, becoming rough later.
Nan'ao and Shanwei:
East to northeast force 5 to 6, becoming cyclonic force 9
later.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas, becoming very rough later.
South of Hong Kong:
East to northeast force 4 to 5, becoming north up to force 6
later.
Scattered showers and squally thunderstorms.
Moderate seas, becoming rough later.
Shangchuan Dao:
East to northeast force 4 to 5.
Scattered showers and squally thunderstorms.
Moderate seas.
Outlook for the following 48 hours
West to northwesterly winds of up to force 9, cyclonic winds
of force 10 in east at first. Frequent heavy squally showers
and thunderstorms.
