Hong Kong Observatory and Solomon Islands Meteorological Service sign expanded MOU to strengthen meteorological collaboration
On 10 September 2024, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service signed an expanded memorandum of understanding on cooperation at the Observatory’s headquarters, to further enhance collaboration and exchanges in aeronautical meteorological science and technologies. The Observatory “Working Together for a Better Climate” Open Day
The Hong Kong Observatory will hold the Hong Kong Observatory Open Day on 30 November and 1 December 2024, with the theme “Working Together for a Better Climate”, to introduce to the public the long-standing collaboration between the Observatory and meteorological authorities in mainland China and around the world over the years. Super Typhoon Yagi Ushers in Second Half of the Tropical Cyclone Season
After Tropical Cyclone Yagi formed in early September 2024 and rapidly intensified from a severe tropical storm to super typhoon in the South China Sea, the Observatory issued the first No. 8 Gale or Storm Signal in 2024. (More……)
