This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us. At 3 a.m., the tropical depression over the central and northern parts of the South China Sea was estimated to be about 710 kilometres south of Hong Kong (near 15.9 degrees north 114.0 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the seas south of Hainan Island.
