Observatory Staff Member Receives Secretary for the Civil Service’s Commendation Award

On 12 March 2026, Mr Wong Wai-kin, Senior Scientific Officer (Forecast Development) of the Hong Kong Observatory, was presented with the Secretary for the Civil Service’s Commendation Award, in recognition of his outstanding work over the years. Mr Wong is responsible for developing nowcasting techniques for rainstorm and hazardous weather, leading a team to develop AI-based nowcasting systems, and participating in World Meteorological Organization projects and expert groups, providing training and technical sharing for Southeast Asian countries.
