Hong Kong Observatory Strengthens Exchanges with National Time Service Centre

Hong Kong Observatory’s officers visited the National Time Service Centre (NTSC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Xi’an in February 2025 to exchange and learn about time measurement technology and discuss future plans of cooperation, including exploring the deployment of new equipment to enhance the reliability, security, and robustness of our local time service provision and using the BeiDou satellite time service system. In terms of time keeping, the Observatory will not only continue to be involved in the determination of the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) but also participate in the Joint Atomic Time System of China (JATC) to jointly promote the development of integrated atomic time.
